3 Day Mt Kenya Trek Adventure

Itinerary details

Day 1: Arrival and Acclimatization
  • Morning: Sort and organize personal equipment for the trek.
  • Drive to Mt. Kenya National Park Gate: Leisure walk to Met Station (3-4 hours; 9 km).
  • Accommodation: Overnight in mountain log cabins at an altitude of 3,050 meters.
  • Afternoon: Short hike in the area to assist in the acclimatization process.
  • Hike: Ascend into the Teleki Valley, enjoying spectacular views of the main peaks.
  • Walking Time: Approximately 4-6 hours.
  • Accommodation: Overnight at Mackinder’s Camp (4,100 meters).
  • Pre-Dawn Start: Begin the final ascent to ensure a successful summit bid and to enjoy the sunrise at the summit.
  • Summit: Ascend to Point Lenana.
  • Return: Descend to the base camp for breakfast, then proceed down the mountain to Met Station.
  • Transfer: Drive back to the lodge.

  • Rack sack (preferably 60 liters)

Note: Extra personal clothes and shoes will not be needed during the climb and should be left at the camp while climbing.

Climbing Equipment: The listed climbing gear is mandatory and can be purchased for an additional cost of USD 90 per person per day. Climbers are encouraged to bring their own equipment.
