Are You A Lone Ranger When Traveling?

Here Are A Few Intimate Safari Parks And Places You Definitely Want To Visit And Enjoy Solitude In Kenya.

People like traveling in groups. Some travel as friends, relatives, or close family. This is fun. However, there are moments that call for taking a break from the rest of the world.

Have you had enough of the chaos around you? Are you tired of the noise? Are you looking for a place to do soul searching? Probably you want to make plans for your future without involving anyone.

There are places in Kenya that are so small and cozy, they will make you know, you are all you need in this life. You have to check in if you love your own company.

Below are the top ten places in Kenya where you can surely go to find yourself or heal from chaos.

  1. Saiwo Swamp National Park

I visited Saiwo on a writer’s retreat. This is a slice of solitude paradise that will leave you inspired. The main activity is searching for the Sitatunga. Saiwo even has just one tree house for you. You can live here for weeks and no one will ever bother you. This is a piece of wilderness that will set your soul-searching rolling. The air is beautiful, the surroundings very calm, and the flora and fauna so unique. Hospitality is also way beyond this world.

Saiwo Swamp National Park is located in Trans Nzoia County, one hour’s drive from Kitale Town. Come Travel Kenya can always help you reach there.

  1. Ol Pejeta Conservancy

This should have been the number one intimate place. Ol Pejeta is made in such a way that will make you feel like you are walking in the loving arms of Mother Nature. It is a place you will stay for days and not have enough of. The wild animals, the flora, the birds and there is a whole range of endangered species awaiting. In 50 years’ time, they might be extinct. So come see them at Ol Pejeta.

There are quite a number of lodges and cabins that are well furnished and you will get that quiet time as you like it. They are very affordable.

Ol Pejeta is found in Nanyuki and it is the largest Rhino Home in East Africa.

  1. Chyulu Hills

I want to come here and hide. It is on my next destination list. I think a writer who gets inspiration from lone places will love Chyulu Hills, National Park. They have a variety of animals to spot, especially elephants, giraffes, and zebras. The lodges are well made for safaris and you wake up to the most scenic sunrise, and go to bed under a starry beautiful Night.

  1. Mount Kenya Glacier Lakes

Are you looking for the experience of the Monk who sold His Ferrari? This is the place. There are no Monks on Mount Kenya, though. You will find the chill, the exciting hiking routes and the thrill of going up thousands of feet.

The Mountain cape is lined with a number of glacier lakes that melt or freeze depending on the seasons. Either way, the scenery way up is picturesque. The silence and serenity is heavenly.

  1. Lake Bogoria Spa Hotel

I love Bogoria Spa for two reasons other than its serene cottages: The Culinary variety and the Hot Water Spa. These two, are a slice of heaven. I live in the warm pool for the rest of my human life.

Bogoria Spa is a hotel on the shores of Lake Bogoria. The area itself is well hidden, off-road, away from any major town. It is just water, hot geysers, birds, and sweet food. The cottages are top of the world.

  1. Lake Turkana and Chalbi Desert

chalbi desert

A drive from Nairobi to Chalbi Dessert in Turkana County is an experience on its own. This is the most scenic drive I have ever been on. You will unwind, experience different climates, and see amazing landscapes.

At Turkana, there is Lake Turkana, the home of the biggest Nile Crocodiles. If adrenaline is your drive, you can dare a boat ride across the Lake.

Sometimes, inspiration comes from standing at the edge of the cliff and jumping off without knowing what lies at the bottom.

There are a number of classy lodges. You will be surprised, there is a spring of fresh water in the desert.  Start packing, Come Travel Kenya is waiting to take you on this soul-searching dessert safari.

  1. Ole Polos

Do you love meat? Barbecues? Clear night skies. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets? If this is your way of unwinding, then Ole Polos, in the heart of Kajiado County is your plug.

Come here, pick a cottage to live in, go for nature walks and rides, eat meat, and rest.

That is all.

  1. The Rolf Place

On the edge of Maasai Lodge Road, hanging on the Cliff is Rolf Place. This is the home of ambiance and serenity in Nairobi. You will not know you are in the heart of the city. The landscapes are so beautiful and you will have the peace of mind that you are searching for.

The rocky, bushy trails add to the mystery of the place. The singing birds in the bushes, music to the soul.

Don’t lose it, ask Come Travel Kenya to book you into The Rolf Place.

  1. Lord Egerton Castle

Hail King or Queen – You. This is a place of real solitude. People come here as a group sometimes but I love it here alone. Walking barefoot in the neatly manicured lawns does it for me! Gazing at the majestic castle, old and refined like wine, is always the climax for me.

  1. Rusinga Island Lodge

A place you go by flight, road, or water. I love the water rides, from Kisumu to Rusinga. My favorite place is the floating library. Rusinga Lodge is always the best place to chill. The evenings on the Lake, dinner on a ship, watching the sun take a deep in the vast waters, the sunrise, the starry nights, if heaven doesn’t look anything like this, then the goal should be going to Rusinga.

So, where are you going next, alone? Come Travel Kenya has more than 10 suggestions for you. Drop your question in the comments and we will put you on the next flight.  Come and unwind!
